Facility Inspections
On top of being an elite nursing home overall, this facility excelled in our inspections category, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared this well in this category. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area typically have very few severe deficiencies. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was given an A+ for its long-term care score. For residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 93.333336 percent of its residents. This is somewhat lower than we were hoping for but still a respectable figure. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. In determining our nursing ratings, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we rated was nursing, ended up being this nursing home's worst area. We gave this facility a D in this area. This was one of the few weak points on an otherwise strong profile. Short-term care grades are generally used to gauge a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last measure we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home.
