Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable inspections in recent years. We gave it a respectable grade of B in this area, which was much better than its overall score. Our inspection scores are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. While this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given its second highest category score in the area of short-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of C in this area, which is a reasonably acceptable score. Short-term care ratings are meaningful for patients looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. In this nursing home's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. The last measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
