While we did not rate this facility well overall, we wanted to point out its decent government inspection reports in recent years. We gave it a relatively respectable grade of B- in that category. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. This facility received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate threat to resident safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

This facility's next best category ended up being short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a C. In calculating our short-term care scores, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This rating is more often than not a useful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last measure we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. We scrutinized the levels of nurses at the nursing home, as well as the quantity of hours those nurses were with patients, in determining our score in this category. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In fact, it scored well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

The final category we scored was long-term care, in which this facility was given an abysmal grade here as well. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities provide. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 81.914894 percent of its patients. This is quite a bit lower than the national average. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
