Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its favorable overall performance, we gave this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Inspection scores are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Our nursing score is primarily associated with the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning residents even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home was awarded its next most favorable category score in the category of long-term care. We gave this facility a B- in this category, which is a respectable score. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 97.75785 percent of its patients. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we assessed is short-term care. This facility was awarded a grade of B- in this area. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this nursing home. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.
