Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we did not have many favorable things to say about this nursing home's overall grade, it did receive a somewhat respectable government inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent score in that area with a B-. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was assessed 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility an B-. When calculating a facility's nursing grade, we look at the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided just 0 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a low total compared to most other nursing homes. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility received its third most favorable category score in the category of short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this area, which is a respectable score. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the typical facility. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 7.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Our next category is long-term care, where we gave this facility a grade of B- in this area. In calculating our long-term care grades, we analyze the assistance with daily living offered to the nursing home's patients. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to discover that this facility vaccinates 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
