Facility Inspections
In addition to being a quality facility overall, this nursing home really excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in that area. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home performed well in the category of long-term care. In fact, we awarded it a score of A for that category, which happens to be one of our most elite scores. When facilities receive this type of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a deadly ailment for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a solid score in the area of short-term care, with a B-. In our short-term care score, we seek to create a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. It doesn't appear that this nursing home provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 5.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
The last category we analyzed was nursing. We gave it a lowly F for this area, which is a poor score. You should not simply disregard a nursing home due to one poor grade though. Our nursing rating considers several data points. The most heavily weighted factor is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Unfortunately, this place also didn't perform as well as we had hoped in some of the quality measures we looked at in this category.
