Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we gave this place a grade of A+ for inspections. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Nursing ratings are heavily correlated with nurse staffing levels. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's third most favorable category was long-term care. We gave it a B- in this area. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this area. In calculating our long-term care grades, we analyze the personal care received by the nursing home's patients. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.69041 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. This facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we graded was short-term care. In this category, we awarded this nursing home an acceptable grade of B-. This actually is this facility's least impressive category. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. We were not able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. This figure was below average.
