Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our short-term care category. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our next category, this nursing home was given first-rate long-term care grade. In fact, it received a score of A- in that area. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 94.04762 percent of its patients. This is a great way to minimize negative health outcomes for the aged 65 and up population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our last area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our nursing score. This rounded out an elite profile. Our nursing grade analyzes quite a few components, but the most important one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
