Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned an inspection grade which is better than its overall rating. Inspection grades are based on the nursing home's recent government inspections. We awarded this nursing home an above average grade of B+ in this area. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was awarded a positive score in our short-term care category. We awarded this facility a better than average grade of B in that category. In the category of short-term care, we try to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that 4.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. In computing our nursing ratings, we look at both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. Although this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of these quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this area. This can be a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a system of moving a patient even once per day.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we rated is long-term care, which is a weak spot for this nursing home. We gave this nursing home a D for our long-term care category. For patients looking for a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 99.27273 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
