Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Inspection scores are based on datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Grade: A-minus

On the list of its many dominant scores, this facility was awarded a top-shelf long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in this category. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 93.81443 percent of its patients. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on our next category, we gave this facility a grade of A- for its short-term care grade. This is a very impressive rating. Our short-term care grades are crucial for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates more skilled nursing. This includes a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our final category, this facility also was given an excellent nursing rating, with a grade of B+. This finished off a first-rate report card. Our nursing score looks at the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of training of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
