Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall score, this facility also excelled in inspections, which is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. In fact, we gave it an A for this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On the list of its many high-end grades, this facility received a strong long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a score of A in this area. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are well cared for. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 97.22222 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. The nursing rating assesses a handful of components, but the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of moving residents more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last area, this nursing home also was awarded an excellent short-term care rating, with a grade of A-. This finished off an elusive straight A report card. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
