Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of A. Our nursing score is based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of training of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Compounding its strong profile, this nursing home also was awarded an excellent long-term care score, with a score of A. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 98.27586 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In our last category, we gave this nursing home an A+ for our short-term care grade. This completed a first-rate report card. In the category of short-term care, we seek to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
