Nurse Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ nursing grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. When computing a nursing home's nursing score, we weigh the number of hours nurses commit to patients and the level of skill of the nurses. This facility provided 5.1 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is among the more impressive figures in the country. A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most highly skilled levels of nurses. We are really impressed by both of these figures. On top of offering impressive levels of care, this nursing home also performed well in several of the quality measures we assessed. In terms of the number of its patients suffering falls resulting in serious injury, this place performed as well as any facility the state.
Facility Inspections
This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Our inspection scores are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's inspections. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple relatively minor dings aren't something to panic about.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we graded is short-term care. This facility was awarded an impressive short-term care score, with a B+ in this category. In our short-term care score, we try to craft a fair measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 40.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to our next category, this nursing home was given a highly favorable long-term care score. We gave it a grade of B+ in this category, rounding out one of our more impressive profiles. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. On top of offering elite levels of nursing care and other staffing, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Finally, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. We found that this facility had 5.12 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. While this wasn't as impressive as some of its other scores in this category, this statistic may be skewed for some facilities based on the medical complexity of residents.
