Facility Inspections

Grade: A

With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this facility excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. Our inspection ratings are based on many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple relatively minor deficiencies aren't necessarily something to panic about.

We also want to emphasize the fact that this nursing home received a strong grade of A- in our long-term care category. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 90 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is slightly lower than we expected but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

We weighed the levels of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the quantity of hours the nurses worked with residents, in calculating our score in this category. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final category we graded, this nursing home was awarded an impressive grade grade of B+ in our short-term care category. With this score, the facility topped off a very strong profile. In our short-term care rating, we attempt to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
