Short-term Care Quality
While we were not very high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it an A- for short-term care. Short-term care ratings are critical for patients needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional skilled nursing. This means a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is physical therapy hours. We found that it offers at least 50% more hours with physical therapists to its residents than most other facilities. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities in the country with 63.8 percent of its residents returning home.
Facility Inspections
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This score is a more impressive than the facility's overall grade. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. This particular nursing home received 8 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Our nursing rating looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of training of the nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This facility provides 4.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is better than average. In computing our nursing scores, we apply additional weight to hours performed by more highly trained nurses such as registered nurses. Lastly, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based measures, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed above average in this area. This is typically a good measure of how carefully a nursing home's nursing staff is tending to its patients. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses and superior safety protocols are used.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we scored was long-term care. It received an abysmal F in this category, which is a poor score. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category likely don't provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes provide. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 93.17073 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be a bit below what we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at limiting hospitalizations. While it had 2.29 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted statistic was not bad due to it having some more complex patients. This is its best score in this category
