Nurse Quality

Grade: C

While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. There are a number of factors included in this grade. Many of these criteria are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 2.9 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which is not an impressive total. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Unfortunately, this nursing home received really poor government inspection reports in recent years, causing us to give them an F in our inspection category. An F in this category is usually a signal that we found some red flags on its government inspection reports. For facilities with poor inspection grades, you should focus on any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, we also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received large government fines in excess of $50,000. This generally means that government inspectors became fed up after multiple years of bad health inspections.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The third area we analyzed is short-term care. This nursing home's was given a poor short-term care grade where it received an F. In crafting our short-term care scores, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to devise a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Based on its grade in this area, we were not stunned to learn that this place is well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The last item we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. It performed better in this area, with 49.3 percent of its residents returning home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we rated was long-term care. This facility received an abysmal grade of F in that area. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. Once we assessed the volume of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 91.45299 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.11 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
