Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. Nursing ratings are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day, which is well below average. Lastly, our nursing ratings also factor in quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second lowest category is long-term care, where it earned a grade of just D in that area. This is a well below average grade. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. We were pleased to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 94.618835 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we graded is short-term care, in which this nursing home received a rock bottom score in this area also. We gave it a lowly F in this category, which is obviously very concerning. In our short-term care grade, we endeavor to forge a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics was damning for this nursing home's short-term care score.
