Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out the fact that this facility has received near flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A+ in this area. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its impressive profile, this nursing home also excelled in our long-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a score of A- in the area. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 99.66997 percent of its residents, which is much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. The nursing category includes a handful of factors, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is short-term care. This nursing home was awarded a strong nursing grade this year, with a B. While this wasn't as good as a few of its other grades, this remains one of the better scores for that area. In determining our short-term care grades, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is considered to be a fair assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
