Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we graded this nursing home very poorly overall, it actually received a quality score when it came to nursing. We awarded it a B in this area. When determining our nursing grades, we assess both staffing levels and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also surprised to learn that this facility received a decent short-term care grade in our assessment. We gave it a grade of C in this area. In our short-term care grade, we endeavor to forge a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. We found that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is still important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The last item we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections
Sadly, this facility received a grade of just D in our inspection category. This is well below average grade. Inspection scores weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. This facility was hit with 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, we also want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received significant government fines in recent years totaling over $100,000. This typically suggests that a nursing home's poor track record has been an issue for more than one year.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed was long-term care, in which this facility received an abysmal score here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this area, which is obviously a major concern. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 98.97436 percent of its residents, which is a very solid figure. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
