Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While we graded this place incredibly poorly overall, it actually earned a fairly impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our more favorable grades in that category with a B+. Arguably the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid nursing homes that have a long list of deficiencies. This place was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this facility only earned a grade of D for its short-term care rating, which ended up being one of its better category scores. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Considering its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this facility was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the figures we looked at. Honestly, this was about what we expected to find. The last measure we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics doomed this facility's short-term care score.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Another unfortunate development was the F this nursing home received in the category of long-term care. When facilities receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means the nursing home did not perform well in our measures relating to patient care. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. Unfortunately, this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 50.70922 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Turning to our last category, this facility really did not perform very well in this area either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in nursing, this is just about as bad as it gets. Our nursing rating considers numerous factors. The most important variable is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This facility averaged a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is quite a bit below average. In addition to receiving below average marks for nursing hours, this facility was less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of patients suffering pressure ulcers and found this facility was at approximately 150 percent of the national average in this metric. This is a bad sign when you consider that so many bed sores are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. This statistic really pulled down this nursing home's nursing rating significantly.
