Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this nursing home performed well in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A-. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple relatively minor dings are not necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also was given a high-end short-term care grade. This actually is this facility's second strongest category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a score of A-. In calculating these short-term care grades, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to devise a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. We assessed the skill-level of nurses at the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time those nurses spent with residents, in calculating our rating in this category. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last category we looked at is long-term care, in which this facility was awarded a grade of B. This actually proved to be this nursing home's weakest category. A facility is doing something right when it's lowest score still outperforms most other facilities. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.69325 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a life threatening health condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.04 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
