Facility Inspections
In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this facility really excelled in the category of inspections, where it earned an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better grades in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. A deficiency-free inspection report is what we look for.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the category of long-term care, we gave this facility a score of A- in that area. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 83.900925 percent of its residents. This is a bit below what we anticipated. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of D. Our nursing rating focuses on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of training of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with patients. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily, this place's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below the national average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This facility performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we graded is short-term care, which is this nursing home's worst category. We awarded this facility a D in that area. Naturally, this category pulled down the nursing home's overall grade to a certain degree. Our short-term care grades are crucial for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. It appears that this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the staffing figures we looked at. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
