Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

To pair with its strong overall score, we awarded this nursing home an impressive grade of A- for our short-term care grade. With our short-term care category, we strive to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this nursing home provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an A-. Our nursing grade focuses on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of skill of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with patients. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home received a good score in the area of inspections as well. In fact, we awarded it a B- for that category, which is one of our better scores. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the last category we analyzed. In this category, we gave this facility a grade of D. Long-term care scores in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. Once we finished looking at the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated only 81.21827 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
