Facility Inspections
With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this nursing home performed well in inspections, where it received an A. Our inspection scores are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also was given an impressive short-term care grade. Indeed, we awarded it an above average score of B+ in this area. In determining our short-term care scores, we look at a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This rating is often a meaningful measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility is also above average in the area of long-term care, where it was given a score of B+. It outpaced most nursing homes in this category. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 83.38028 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is somewhat lower than we expected but still a respectable figure. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
The last category we looked at was nursing, where this nursing home was awarded a B+. This topped off a very favorable profile. Very few facilities earned a B+ or higher in all four categories. Our nursing score consists of quite a few subcategories, but the main consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
