Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home fared well in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it an impressive grade of A for that category. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.8 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home is also strong in the area of long-term care, where it received a grade of B. It performed better than most facilities in this category. For patients in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. One of the criteria we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 88.61539 percent of its patients. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The last category we analyzed was nursing. This nursing home was awarded a strong nursing rating this year, with a B. This nursing home truly did not have any weak categories. The nursing grade considers a host of subcategories. The most important variable is the quantity of hours nurses spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
