Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall score, we awarded it a B+ in the category of nursing. In determining a facility's nursing rating, we look at the amount of time nurses commit to residents as well as the skill levels of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our long-term care rating and that actually ended up being its next most favorable category. For patients in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 95.80153 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable statistic. To our surprise, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of short-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in that category. In computing our short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This rating is frequently a useful assessment of a facility's rehabilitation services. Not surprisingly, we learned that this facility offers substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the typical nursing home. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

The last category we assessed is inspections. This nursing home did not receive positive inspection reports in recent years. As a result, we had to give it an F in this category. We would advise paying close attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection score. We suggest you scrutinize the level of severity of the deficiencies. This nursing home had one category G through L deficiency, which rank among the more serious categories of deficiencies. These categories indicate that the deficiencies found by inspectors had potential to create actual harm to residents. Lastly, we also want to draw your attention to the fact that this place was assessed large government fines totaling over $100,000. This often indicates that a facility's poor track record has been an issue for several years.
