Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Inspection grades are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
Nurse Quality
We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. There are a number of factors included in this category. Most of the datapoints relate to nurse staffing. This facility averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, which is a very low figure. Finally, although this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared well in this statistic.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second lowest category is short-term care, where it earned just a D in that category. This is a well below average grade. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to create a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Given its score in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this place is well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 4.1 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to our fourth area, this nursing home did not fare very well here either. Due to a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as bad as it gets. Facilities that don't fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated 88.85077 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be significantly less than what we expected. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.07 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
