Registered Staff Hours
Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its nearly flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid places that have too many severe deficiencies. This facility received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility's second highest category is long-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this area, it still fared relatively badly. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 93.384224 percent of its residents. This is slightly below what we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to judge a facility's rehabilitation services In order to provide high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must provide higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. Not surprisingly, we learned that this facility provides substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
The last category we graded is nursing. This nursing home was given a very poor grade of F in this area. When determining our nursing grades, we factor in both nursing hours and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
