Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Although we didn't grade this nursing home favorably overall, we did give it an excellent score in the category of inspections, where it received an A. Inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with a bunch of deficiencies flagged. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility's second most favorable category ended up being long-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a C. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 94.26934 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. This facility also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's second least favorable score is short-term care, where it received just a D in that category. This is a well below average grade. Short-term care grades are crucial for residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Given its weak rating in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this nursing home provides significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other facilities. The last statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics doomed this facility's short-term care grade.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to our final category, this facility did not perform very well in this category either. With a rock bottom grade of F in nursing, this is just about as bad as it gets. In computing our nursing grades, we analyze both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home averaged only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
