Although we were not high on this facility's overall performance, it did receive an impressive inspection report this year with few dings from the applicable government inspectors. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that category with a B. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

This nursing home's second worse score was long-term care, where it earned a grade of just D in that category. This is a well below average grade. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in this category likely don't provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes offer. After we finished looking at the amount of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. Candidly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated just 62.4498 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.

The next area we rated is short-term care, where this nursing home received a very poor score in this category also. Unfortunately, we gave it an F in this area, which is obviously a major concern. Our short-term care grades are meaningful for people looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires additional skilled nursing services. This means a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Given its poor rating in this area, we were not surprised to learn that this facility offered far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 3.1 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
