Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies an immediate risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this nursing home also performed well in our long-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a score of A- for that area. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.13793 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a life threatening condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. The nursing grade includes a host of subcategories. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we graded was short-term care, where this facility was awarded a grade of B-. This turned out to be this nursing home's worst area. This is still not a bad grade. In computing our short-term care scores, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to create a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents that returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. This figure was below average.
