Even with only a few nursing homes, this is still quite an accomplishment. We also assessed the nursing homes in the nearby city of Marshalltown, which received a city grade of B. As good as the nursing homes are in Marshalltown, we found Boone to be in a totally different league. The best aspect of this city's strong report card is its nursing homes' inspection scores. Inspection grades are discussed in the next section
This city received a great overall grade, but we also wanted to emphasize that some of the city's facilities received virtually flawless health inspections the past few years. We gave Boone an elite grade of A+ in this area. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. We also wanted to emphasize that we gave Boone an A for our nursing rating. Rounding out its quality report card, we awarded the city strong grades for our short-term care and long-term care areas as well.
