With three nursing homes in the city, you only have a couple of choices in Ames, Iowa. The nursing homes in this city received a world class city grade of A-. Even with just a few facilities, this is still quite an achievement. For comparison's sake, we also looked at the facilities in the nearby city of Urbandale, which received an impressive city grade in its own right. However, we found the facilities in Ames to be even better than the ones in Urbandale. The best part of this city's impressive profile is its nursing homes' inspection grades. Inspection reports are discussed in the next section
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this city an A- for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some can be quite insignificant. Ames also performed extremely well in the area of nursing, where it earned an A- for that area. Wrapping up its impressive profile, we gave the city strong scores for our short-term care and long-term care areas as well.
