Sandpoint, Idaho has just two nursing homes to choose from, so you have relatively limited options. This place's nursing homes received a world class city grade of A, so what this city lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality. For comparison's sake, we also looked at the nursing homes in the nearby city of Post Falls, which received a city grade of B. As good as the nursing homes are in Post Falls, we found Sandpoint to be on a whole other level. One of the major highlights of this city's stellar report card is its nursing homes' short-term care scores. Short-term care grades are discussed in the next section.
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this city's nursing homes performed extremely well in the area of short-term care. We awarded Sandpoint one of our highest scores in that area with a grade of A. Cities with these types of short-term care scores usually have plenty of facilities offering physical therapy, occupational therapy and other services related to rehabilitation. In addition, we also wanted to emphasize that some of the city's nursing homes received nearly perfect health inspections the past few years. For this reason, we gave Sandpoint an A- for this category. Rounding out its straight A report card, Sandpoint received an A- for its long-term care rating and an A- for nursing.
