Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this ended up being a great nursing home is that it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this very important category. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its top-shelf profile, this facility also excelled in our long-term care area. In fact, it received a grade of A- for the area. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 98.5782 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also was elite in the area of short-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Only a select group of facilities received a better grade in this category. Our short-term care ratings are arguably most important for people in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the final category, this nursing home was given a highly favorable nursing score. In fact, we gave it a B+ in that category, rounding out one of our better report cards. The nursing score consists of several components, however, the main one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This nursing home fared well in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. For example, in terms of the number of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this nursing home performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented with better nursing care.
