In fact, some of the nursing homes in the city received almost perfect inspection reports this year. Consequently, the city received one of our best ratings in that category with an A. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better grades in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. In addition, Port Charlotte also earned one of our better scores in our short-term care category, with a B+. Wrapping up its impressive profile, the city received a grade of B+ in our long-term care category and a B for nursing. We really found this city to be competent in each category we assessed.
