Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home received an excellent inspection report. Consequently, it received one of our best grades in this category with a grade of A. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this area tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. Our nursing rating is largely based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of turning residents more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also want to alert you to the fact that this facility was given a first-rate score of A- in our short-term care category. Short-term care grades are commonly used to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to have high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on to our fourth area, this facility received a highly favorable long-term care rating. We gave it an A- in this area, giving this facility straight A's. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. One of the data points we considered after nursing hours is vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 86.8421 percent of its residents. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
