Facility Inspections
In addition to earning a strong overall score, this facility excelled in inspections, which is based on the facility's inspection reports. In fact, we awarded it an A for this area. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area typically have few of these severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. Nursing scores are largely based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility also was given a favorable short-term care grade. Indeed, we gave it an above average grade of B+ in this category. In the area of short-term care, we try to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 4.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
In the last category we rated, this facility received a very strong grade of B+ in our long-term care category. With this score, the facility topped off an elite report card. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a life or death ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility doesn't take any chances. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
