Facility Inspections
While this place's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B- for that category, which is one of our better scores. We would argue that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't rate poorly in the area of long-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of B- for that area, which turned out to be among its higher grades. For patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility provided the vaccine to 95.32164 percent of its residents, which is a very solid total. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, this nursing home's next best category is short-term care. However, with a D in this category, it still performed somewhat badly. Our short-term care grade is generally used to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Given its abysmal score in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this facility provides substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most facilities. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to the final area, this nursing home really did not fare very well in this area either. With a rock bottom grade of F in nursing, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. In computing our nursing ratings, we look at both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of those nurses. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were well below average. On top of rating below average in nursing hours per resident, this facility also had poor marks in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing grades. We looked at the percent of patients sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This facility was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in both of these metrics. This is a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. These statistics pulled down this facility's nursing grade significantly.
