To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
On the list of its many elite grades, this nursing home was awarded a strong short-term care score. In fact, we gave it a score of A in this area. In determining our short-term care scores, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. This area is considered to be a meaningful measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

The third category we analyzed is long-term care. Contributing to its elite resume, this nursing home also excelled in this area. In fact, we gave it a grade of of A in the category. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. One of the factors we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. This is a reliable method to minimize unnecessary hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
