Short-term Care Quality
We really were not high on this nursing home's overall grade or its category grades. We gave it a D for our short-term care grade and that actually turned out to be its best score. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most facilities, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
Facility Inspections
This facility received really poor inspection reports in recent years, causing us to give them an F in our inspection category. An F in this category is typically a signal that we found some red flags on its government inspection reports. When a facility has this bad of an inspection score, you should look for severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This particular facility had one category G through L deficiency, which are among the more serious categories of deficiencies. These categories indicate that the deficiencies uncovered by inspectors had potential to create actual harm to residents. On top of having severe deficiencies, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. Nursing ratings are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This figure is significantly below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed was long-term care. This nursing home received a poor grade of F in that area. For long-term care residents, the primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 94.672134 percent of its residents, which is a very solid datapoint. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
