Facility Inspections
While we didn't give this place a good overall grade, we did give it a strong grade in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of B. Inspection scores weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid nursing homes with a bunch of deficiencies flagged. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second most favorable area was long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a B-. Long-term care grades are important for residents in need of personal care. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 97.67933 percent of its residents, which is an above average figure. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. When determining our nursing ratings, we factor in both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we graded was short-term care, in which this nursing home was given a very poor grade here also. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. Short-term care grades are typically employed to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To have highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Considering its weak score in this area, we were not stunned to discover this facility provided substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. The final measure we considered in this category is the number of residents that returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 2.9 percent of its patients returning home.
