While this facility's overall grade was decent, it really fared well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

This facility received its next highest category score in the area of long-term care. We gave this nursing home a C in this area, which is a respectable score. In calculating our long-term care ratings, we scrutinize the assistance with daily living offered to a nursing home's residents. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home vaccinated 66.79612 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is quite a bit less than average. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of D. When computing a facility's nursing rating, we assess the number of hours nurses are with patients as well as the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This place fared well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.

With its grade in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this place was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the data we assessed. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
