Although we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable short-term care score this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. Short-term care grades are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. This nursing home provides more services with physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. This is usually a favorable sign. The last measure we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Interestingly, this nursing home's awful overall score can't really be attributed to its inspection reports. We awarded it a C for inspections. We would argue that one of the most important factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. To our surprise, this nursing home had a category J through K deficiency, which are among the worst deficiencies. This typically indicates the government inspectors identified a deficiency which places resident safety or health in imminent jeopardy. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

Sadly, this facility's third best score was long-term care. Nevertheless, with a grade of D in this category, it still performed somewhat poorly. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 97.52066 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

The final category we rated is nursing, in which this facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade in this area also. We gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is definitely a major disappointment. There are a number of criteria included in this category. Many of the data points reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is not a very impressive figure. This place also had terrible marks in several of the quality-based metrics to go along with its weak nursing hours. For starters, we looked at the percent of residents sustaining pressure ulcers. This facility was at more than twice the national average in this datapoint. This is quite alarming when you consider that so many bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the facility's fate of receiving a very poor nursing grade.
