Short-term Care Quality
One of the reasons this proved to be a quality nursing home is it received a very impressive short-term care grade. In fact, short-term care is its best category. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an A. Short-term care grades are vital for individuals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Our nursing score is primarily associated with a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Utah in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a policy of turning residents even once per day.
