Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing rating. When computing our nursing grades, we analyze both nursing hours and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Incredibly, we gave this nursing home a grade of C for its long-term care grade, which really isn't too bad of a score. For patients looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 98.854965 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. This facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

We gave this nursing home just a D for our short-term care score. This is not a score to write home about. Our short-term care grades are important for prospective residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more skilled nursing. This means a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With a grade of this caliber in this area, we weren't shocked to learn this nursing home was well below average in multiple staffing metrics we assess. It offered far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.

Moving on the final category of inspections, this facility fared very poorly. Sadly, it received an F in our inspection category. When a nursing home has this poor of an inspection score, you should look for severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to patient safety. This particular nursing home had 11 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
