Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in this category with a grade of A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively insignificant. While this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we gave this facility a grade of B in our long-term care category. This happens to be one of our more favorable grades. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 33.72549 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is a bit less than we anticipated but still a respectable figure. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility's third most favorable category turned out to be its short-term care score, where it was awarded a grade of C. Short-term care grades are typically employed to grade a nursing home's rehabilitation services To have quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The final area we analyzed is nursing. This facility was given a C for this area. The nursing grade analyzes many subcategories, however, the paramount one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This place averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, which is not an impressive total. Finally, while this nursing home got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this statistic.
