Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a great overall score, this place also received top notch health inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our higher scores in this area, with a grade of A. Inspection scores weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this category usually have few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple relatively minor deficiencies aren't something to panic about.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home performed well in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a score of A for that category, which happens to be one of our highest scores. In determining our short-term care grades, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This grade is often a fair assessment of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. Our nursing score is mostly based on the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning a resident at least once a day.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed is long-term care, which proved to be a weak spot for this nursing home. We awarded this facility a D in the area of long-term care, rendering this the nursing home's worst grade. We would still suggest that you consider all of a nursing home's grades. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care likely don't provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes provide. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. Unfortunately, this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 84.23913 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
