Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of faring well overall, this facility received nearly flawless government inspections. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that area with an A+. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category generally have few severe deficiencies. We weren't able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Contributing to its strong resume, this facility also performed well in our long-term care area. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in the category. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered in addition to this facility's impressive nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 98.37838 percent of its patients. Vaccines are a great way to avoid unnecessary deaths for seniors. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.61 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the quantity of time those nurses were with residents, in determining our rating in this category. This nursing home provided 6.6 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is among the higher totals in the country. A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most skilled levels of nurses. We were really impressed by both of these statistics. On top of providing high levels of care, this facility was also above average in each of the major quality-based metrics we looked at in this category. By way of illustration, it performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. These metrics are generally good indicators of the quality of nursing care a nursing home provides.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Moving on to the last category, this facility also performed well in the short-term care category. We gave it an A for this category. This completed a straight A profile. In the area of short-term care, we try to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. One of this nursing home's strengths is it provides more than an hour of care per day from registered nurses to each resident. This is the gold standard in this metric, as it's roughly 1.5 times higher than the typical nursing home's level of registered nurse staffing. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that it fared as well as just about any nursing home in the nation with 64.2 percent of its residents returning home. Most nursing homes are below 50 percent in this statistic.
