Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home just a D for our long-term care rating and that actually turned out to be its next best category. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in this category may not provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes provide. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit alarmed this nursing home administered the vaccine to a relatively low 61.19403 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. Our nursing grade is based on the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This nursing home offered a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at was short-term care. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this area, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. Our short-term care grade is generally used to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. With a grade this poor in this category, we were not stunned to discover that this facility was below average in multiple staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it provided significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
