Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a strong overall score, this facility also earned first-rate government inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our higher scores in this category, with an A. Our inspection scores are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home really excelled in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of A-. Very few facilities performed more favorably in this area. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 99.0676 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of C. While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. The nursing grade is based on quite a few datapoints, most of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which is not an impressive total. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the number of hours of care offered.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we graded is short-term care. We awarded this facility a grade of C in that category. Short-term care grades are generally employed to measure a facility's rehabilitation services. To have quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 3.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.
