Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall score, this nursing home also earned top notch health inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our better scores in this area, with an A. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this nursing home's above average category grades came in the category of short-term care. We gave them one of our higher grades in that area, with a score of B. In calculating our short-term care grades, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This score is generally a reliable measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also received an impressive long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this category. For patients looking for a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. One of the statistics we considered after nursing hours was vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 81.29496 percent of its patients. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.04 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Turning to the fourth category, this facility was awarded a C for nursing, which is generally an acceptable score. Our nursing rating is mostly tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This figure is far below average. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.
