Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its favorable overall grade, we gave this facility an A+ for our inspection category. Inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area typically have very few severe deficiencies. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Short-term care grades are often employed to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also gave this facility a of A+ for its long-term care grade. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 98.039215 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is far higher than most nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

The fourth area we looked at was nursing. This first-rate nursing home also dominated in this area, in which it received an A+. This topped off a amazing profile of all A+'s. When calculating our nursing grades, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving a patient at least once a day.
